New Cube ASRS Case Handling System Solves Throughput and Labor Challenges
WIXOM, MI – May 13, 2026 – ISD – Integrated Systems Design, a leading warehouse automation systems integrator, has introduced the New Cube ASRS Case Handling System, featuring the URBX Case Handling System. This fully integrated, high-density ASRS and robotic solution is engineered to store, retrieve, and sequence cases, including mixed-case piece picking… with speed and precision.
The URBX Case Handling System builds on proven Cube ASRS architecture with advanced mixed-case product sequencing capabilities, delivering AI-driven automation that eliminates manual case picking and pallet building across ecommerce, grocery, retail distribution, manufacturing, and 3PL operations.
In addition to mixed-case storage and retrieval, this system automates piece picking, which traditional cube and crane and aisle ASRS systems do not offer. The interchangeable TowerBot AMR fleet handles both totes and cases on a single platform, eliminating the need for separate or multiple structures and robot systems.
“The tight integration of its design, components, and material flow makes it not only unique in the industry but also an incredibly cost-effective solution compared to any other material handling solution found in the market today and a critical component in ISD’s OneTouchDistribution warehouse automation,” says Bob Jones, Senior Consultant at ISD.
How The New Cube ASRS Case Handling System Works
URBX TowerBots navigate a three-dimensional storage grid, reaching heights up to 125 feet, to retrieve natively stored cases (no totes or trays needed) up to 50 lbs. and deliver them directly to a palletizer. The system handles mixed case sizes from 6 to 24 inches. AI-driven software orchestrates every move, optimizing SKU slotting and pick sequencing in real time.
The interchangeable TowerBot AMR system allows a single robot fleet to switch between standard tote handling and case handling, maximizing asset utilization and protecting capital investment as operational needs evolve. The system improves consistent throughput by not requiring any repositioning (mining or digging) through surrounding inventory for a specific SKU.
“Facilities and warehouses have been waiting for a system that can automatically handle mixed cases AND piece picking in one automated workflow. The URBX Case Handling System does exactly that. It’s a genuine labor multiplier,” says Bob Jones, Senior Consultant at ISD.
Key Benefits of The New Cube ASRS Case Handling System
- Eliminates manual case picking and sequencing
- Up to 3–4 times more storage density versus conventional racking
- Handles totes and cases with an interchangeable AMR, a single robot fleet and platform
- Scalable with 6- to 12-month deployment timelines
- Pick accuracy exceeding 99.9%
“ISD’s OptimalOps-Process ensures we deploy this technology the right way, aligned to your data, your workflow, and your ROI targets. This isn’t a product drop. It’s a complete operational solution,” says Ed Romaine, VP of Marketing and Business Development at ISD.
The URBX Case Handling System is available through ISD.
